The State Visit of his Excellency, The President of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of India

The President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Goncalves Lourenço, paid a state visit to India on Saturday and Sunday, 3 and 4 May, at the invitation of the Asian country’s authorities.

The Angolan Head of State, who arrived in the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Friday morning, met with President Draupadi Murmu and the Head of the Indian Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The visit began on Saturday morning with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, during which President João Lourenço visited his memorial. In addition to laying a wreath, he signed the guest book.

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, opened and addressed the Business Forum on Sunday, which brought together businesspeople from both countries in the conference room of the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi.

Angola has a keen interest in developing and deepening its cooperative relations with India, an Asian country renowned for its strengths in areas such as science and technology, medicine, agriculture, and trade.
