Ambassador Clemente Camenha Presented Letter of Credence to The President of Nepal

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola accredited to the Republic of India, Clemente Camanha, presented today, 23 June, in the city of Kathmandu, to the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, His Excellency Ram Chandra Poudel, the credential letters accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Pleinipontary of the Republic of Angola in that country, with non-resident status.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Ambassador Clemente Camanha was received in audience by the Nepalese Head of State, to whom he conveyed a verbal message from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Angola, Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, expressing interest in strengthening cooperation between both countries.

It should be noted that on the previous day, 22 June, Ambassador Clemente Camanha went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he handed over the Letters of Intent to the respective Chief of Protocol, Mr Kumar Raj Kharel.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is a landlocked country located in South Asia, in the Himalayan Mountains, bordering China’s Tibet Autonomous Region to the north and India to the south. Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural state, with Nepali being the official language.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal has a total surface area of 147,181 square kilometres and a population of 29,618,120 (twenty-nine million six hundred and eighteen thousand one hundred and twenty) inhabitants. Agriculture remains Nepal’s primary economic activity, employing around 65 percent of the population and accounting for 31.7 percent of the GDP.

In addition to India and Nepal, Ambassador Clemente Camenha also represents Angola in the Republics of the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
